It is always nice to go back to the fundamental rules of design. These days, flat User Interface (UI) design is a hot trend. And in my opinion it’s a timeless design choice that reminds us of the importance of imagery, and the subtle accents that should be our UI. We should aspire to keep our interface design invasive and useful.
In this instance, working with Christine Wickrath to put together a portfolio based web site for her amazingly talented photographers was an exploration in adaptation. I built a custom theme from our designer’s mockup atop the clean and simple WordPress TwentyFifteen theme. This development choice gave us the ability to quickly build a reliable and responsive web site structure. It was incredibly important to me that we didn’t disrupt the existing theme’s environment too much. I wanted to ensure my customizations and additions were simple and elemental.
So, if you seek to build a web site, go responsive. If you need custom development, make the investment. Your visitors should be respected, and delivered a thoughtful experience. Presentation is everything, and your web site will show how much you care.
